Venetian Flashbacks is a video project that explores the ways of death that are specific to Venetian urban configurations and social life. Using a dark sense of humour, unique architectural moments of the city are uncovered.
Given the theme "Obituary Island" (referring to Poveglia and San Michele Island in Venice that separates the living and the dead, literally and geographically), an absurd approach to a subject like "death" feels more straightforward and revealing than any deep scrutiny.
Throughout the video urban fragments appear in a fraction of a second, one after another, and a collection of architecturally-informed glimpses of everyday life gathers.
These tragic flashbacks will familiarize you with Venetian routines rooted in the urban character of the city.
