Museum for Metaphors of Memory

Istanbul's most popular inner-city park, Maçka Park, is at risk of losing 3500 m2 of its green area to a road construction project despite all the protests.

The museum project site is a plot close to the road construction project. Located near Maçka Park, but at a lower level than the park, the project site is separated by a retaining wall.

By enlarging Maçka Park with an organically formed cover structure, the design aims to close the height gap between the site and the park and create a museum underneath the structure. Through this process, not only is the green area physically expanded by 10.000 m2, but various activity spaces are also created by the cover structure.
