Vertical Backbone
The Vertical Backbone is a pavilion incorporated by the Leicester Museum located on the trademark New Walk pathway. The Vertical Backbone interprets New Walk’s spatial plan scheme (a core path + spaces attached to it) and re-installs this typology on the section plane. It embodies workshop spaces, a stage, an amphitheatre, and a lounge space.
Stretching the pavement of New Walk, the pavilion proposes an urban lab growing from the pathway.
